Armistice

Henry Allingham laid a wreath of poppies at the foot of the Cenitaph in London as part of the Armistice ceremony on Sunday 9 November. Clearly moved by the emotion of the occassion Henry joined Harry Patch and William Stone in remembering those who died during the Wars. Watched by millions of viewers the three men joined Gordon Brown at Number 10 as the oldest of the last three known Veterans of World War One.

Kitchener’s Last Volunteer Book launch

The launch for Kitchener’s Last Volunteer took place on 23 September 2008 at the RAF Club, Piccadilly. Henry was on fine form happily signing books and talking to press and friends about his life and the book. The event got some great coverage including ITV News at Ten and the One Show.

Henry appeared at Waterstones in Eastbourne on Saturday 1st November, where he happily signed copies of his book Kitchener’s Last Volunteer and chatted to the book buyers.
